Daisy   born approximately 1981

Daisy’s birthplace is unknown, but she spent her first years as an infant and juvenile working in the circus.  When she was about ten years old, she was shipped to California to live at an entertainment compound where she was bred. Her first baby was pulled and sold to a private owner. Daisy had a few more infants, but they died in her care.

Daisy arrived in Wauchula in August 2004 a few days before Hurricane Charley hit the sanctuary.  She came with eight-year-old twins Jonah and Jacob and the adolescent male Kenuzy. Last year, three young females (Maggie, Ellie, and Bella) joined their group, and Daisy is now the senior member of her troop of adolescent chimpanzees.

Though respected by her younger groupmates, Daisy remains easy-going, often ignoring toys and games in favor of spending lots of time relaxing in the sun near the roof of her airy enclosure.

Daisy is close to Kenuzy and also good friends with Bella. She has a few quirky food preferences as she passes up most vegetables except cooked onions and green peppers.
