Natsu   Born December 29, 1998

Natsu arrived in Wauchula in December 2005 after several years of international travel when she worked at the Universal Studios tourist attraction in  Japan doing several live performances a day.

xBorn in the  United States, she was returned to the  U.S.  when she became too large and dangerous to work on stage in the animal shows. She then spent another year alone in a cage in the back area of the Los Angeles Universal Studios tourist attraction until she came to the Center for Great Apes.

Natsu had very little experience interacting with other chimpanzees before she arrived at the Center, so was first introduced to former entertainment juveniles, Mowgli and Kodua. She immediately loved baby Kodua (then age three), but would often scream when Mowgli teased her or poked her with play invitations.  Within weeks, Natsu learned to not take Mowgli so seriously, and they are now the best of friends. She also lives with adolescent male Brooks, another former Universal Studios performing chimpanzee.

Natsu is very energetic and athletic. She likes to carry around old shoes as toys. During her overseas work, Natsu acquired a taste for rice and other Japanese foods, but happily eats all fruits and vegetables.
