Triangle Swing

Swing with PVC bottom hung into shape of triangle made from firehose.

Supplies (makes 1 swing)-

  • At least 20 feet of firehose (Sometimes donated by local fire departments)
  • 4 ft PVC (3”-4” dia.) – Must fit inside firehose!

  • 2- ½” bolts, nuts, & 4 washers

  • Drill (3/4” bit) and hacksaw

  • Locktight or hammer & chisel to damage bolt threads

Instructions:

Using hacksaw remove any metal fittings, fixtures, or hose nozzles on both ends of firehose.  Insert PVC tube inside of firehose and push in until PVC tube is in at least 4-6 feet into the firehose.  Bring the short end of firehose up to meet the longer end to form a triangle shape.  Drill holes through firehose and secure with bolt- on bolt insert washer, 1st firehose piece, 2nd firehose piece, washer, then nut.  Tighten nut securely and use locktight or damage threads of bolt with chisel to prevent apes from unscrewing nut and bolts.  Cut the firehose at long end to desired length.  Then hang swing in ape enclosure using bolt, nut, & 2 washers.  Remember to again use locktight or damage threads.
